I have been an editor since 1999, first in a private publishing house and later as a freelancer. I spent the first part of my career editing technical books on programming, IT, music technology, and more. As a freelancer, I branched out into environmental work, audit reports, and political texts.
About seven years ago, I began teaching editing and grammar for UC Berkeley Extension. It has been a nice return to my roots, given that I taught writing at the college level before I became an editor.
I have also worked on the other side of the red pen: I have authored more than seventy-five nonfiction books for students in grades five through twelve.
When I’m not editing, writing, or teaching, I’m reading, traveling, and parenting three young children.
